Most Frequently Asked Questions About Hair & Beard Transplants
Do hair or beard transplants work?
Yes. If you have a healthy scalp and a good donor area, hair and beard transplants work, and they are permanent.
What’s a “donor area”?
If you have a transplant, the hairs are simply relocated, harvested (taken from) your donor area which is the hair in back of your head, the area between your ears. That is the healthiest area on your head and has the least amount of DHT. (DHT is a hormone that can cause baldness in other parts of the head.)
How much does a transplant cost?
The cost of a transplant depends on the amount of grafts needed to fill in the bald or patchy areas. Some men or women are looking to fill in small areas which are usually 1000 to 1500 grafts. Larger hair loss, or full beards require around 2500 to 3000 grafts, on average. So costs vary. In the United States the average cost of a transplant it around $7500. Once again, that can be lower or higher depending on what you’re trying to achieve. And remember, it’s permanent. Most patients look at it as a cosmetic investment for themselves and the look they’re trying to achieve.
How should I find the best clinic/doctor for my transplant?
Experience matters a lot when choosing a hair transplantation clinic. Most clinics offer free consultations, and we urge you to visit several before deciding on which one would best fit your needs. Here, at International Hair Institute, our medical director is a leading surgeon in the hair restoration field for more than forty years and has personally performed tens of thousands of transplants.
Can I get a quote if I send you photographs?
Yes, you can send photographs, or we can schedule a Zoom or FaceTime call; but remember, those are not 3-dimensional, so the best analysis of your scalp and hair is in person.
And, since you’re reading this on our website, simply give us a call or fill out the consultation form at the bottom of our landing page. Consultations are free and we look forward to answering your questions!
